Keniana’s Story

Just six days before Christmas, 9 year old Keniana was hit by a car. She suffered extensive damage to her heart and was hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She had a hole in her heart, a collapse lung, as well as a broken ankle. Keniana was in the ICU for several months on a heart and lung machine after going through open heart surgery. She has worked hard in physical therapy to get her strength back. Keniana was recently able to come home which was a huge step in her healing! She has gone back to school and is enjoying playing and being a kid again. Keniana is working through anxiety surrounding cars and seeing them pass by. Her life is a miracle and a reminder to enjoy the little things because you never know what the next day will hold!
