Shane’s Story

Meet Shane! In February 2025 he started experiencing some pain associated with a lump he found. Initially, doctors thought it might be a hernia or abscess. He was then sent to Brenner’s Children’s Hospital to determine the cause of the lump. On March 21st, 2025, Shane was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. His mom describes that call as “the worst call any parent could receive”. About a week later, Shane began chemotherapy. During his second round of chemo, he got mucositis and cellulitis causing him to be hospitalized for a week. On May 22, 2025, Shane had a PET scan which showed the cancer is responding to the chemotherpy - he and his family are so thankful for this news! He will continue chemotherpay for the next three months. Shane has a passion for basketball - playing it, watching it, and even knowing all of the players! His shirt combines his love of basketball with his love of lime green and responds all of us that no matter what we are facing, we can find the strength inside to face it head on!
