Bukhbilig’s Story

In September 2024, Bukhbilig was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at just 8 years old. What began as a swollen cheek quickly turned into hospital visits and life-changing news. It was an overwhelming and difficult time for his family who had moved from Mongolia to the United States just a year earlier. As they were still adjusting to their new life and trying to learn the culture and language, Bukhbilig’s diagnosis caused their world to become even more challenging. His mom is focused on taking care of him, while his dad works hard to provide for the family. Bukhbilig also has two older brothers who love and support him every step of the way.

Bukhbilig is a bright, creative, and kindhearted boy who continues to inspire everyone around him with his strength. During his treatment, he faced some tough side effects from CAL PEG - his cholesterol spiked to 3896, and he had to be on an insulin drip for four days with no food. Even through that, he stayed strong and kept his big smile. He loves making balloon animals for nurses and doctors, always finding ways to bring joy to others. When he’s feeling well, he enjoys playing cards, math, spending time outdoors, and laughing with his brothers!
