Ty’s Story
Tyscheam “Baby Ty” Collins is a warrior in the purest sense - strong, gentle, motivated, and deeply loved. Ty was born in February 2024 with complex medical needs that affect different parts of his body and organs in different ways. Within his first four days of life, he was given five different diagnoses. Ty’s complex situation is extremely rare, leaving medical staff frequently puzzled as to what to do. His journey has included multiple surgeries, lengthy hospital stays, and months of learning how his body works best.
Today Ty is surrounded by a community that believes in him. His daily routine is supported through:
• A G-tube feeding plan designed to nourish him gently and consistently.
• Free water flushes and hydration support.
• Medications that help his stomach and breathing stay as calm and comfortable as possible.
• Physical therapy focusing on movement, comfort, and developmental support.
• Speech therapy that nurtures sensory calming, communication bonding, and oral relaxation.
• A care team that includes hospice comfort care and home nursing support.
• And most importantly, the constant presence of his mom, who leads his care with intention, love, and advocacy!
This chapter of Ty’s journey focuses on keeping him comfortable and celebrating every moment of joy, big or small. His progress isn’t measured in numbers or milestones but in peaceful breaths, relaxed body language and the light in his eyes. Some days require extra care and patience while some days are full of smiles and energy. All days are met with love, presence, and honor for his pace.
Ty’s journey has never been about just surviving. It is about living - fully, deeply and with love. His life reminds us that strength can be soft, progress can be slow and still meaningful and that love is the most powerful form of medicine. His mom has stood by him through every challenge and moment, in and out of the hospital. Ty is surrounded day in and day out by her and his two other brothers who love him so much!
